Kweku Osei Korankye Osei, popularly known as Koka, has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court after pleading not guilty to charges of offensive conduct and threatening to harm a police officer and his family.
The 48-year-old politician allegedly threatened Detective Chief Inspector David Anaba at the Regional Police Headquarters in Accra on May 13, 2026.
The court set bail at GH¢200,000 with three sureties, all to be justified with landed property. Koka is scheduled to reappear on July 15, 2026.
Prosecution’s Case
Chief Inspector Wisdom Alorwu told the court that Detective Chief Inspector Anaba, who is the complainant, serves as an officer at the Regional Criminal Investigations Department in Accra.
On May 13, 2026, a complaint alleging threat of death was filed against one Kennedy Ofori Anokye by Nana Boadi Amponim Obodadi. The matter was referred to the complainant for investigation.
The prosecution said the complainant invited Anokye to assist with investigations. Anokye reported to the Regional CID Headquarters accompanied by Koka and several others.
During their presence at the CID premises, the complainant observed members of the group taking photographs and recording videos of him without providing any explanation for their actions. When questioned whether they had obtained permission from the Police Command, no satisfactory response was given, the court heard.
Media Interview
The prosecution further stated that Koka later granted a media interview, which was circulated across various media platforms. In the video, the accused allegedly threatened the complainant and his family, stating: “I will deal with you and your family.”
According to prosecutors, the statement was made with the intent to cause fear and breach the peace.
Koka has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
