Sportswear giant Puma has unveiled Ghana’s new kits for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, drawing inspiration from the country’s rich cultural heritage to create designs rooted in folklore and urban dynamism.
The launch took place at Domino Square in New York City as part of the brand’s “Rolling Nations” street activation, moving away from a traditional stadium reveal to place Ghanaian identity and global street culture at the forefront of the event.
The new home kit retains Ghana’s classic white base but introduces a bold cobweb motif, directly inspired by Kwaku Ananse—the legendary spider figure in West African storytelling, who symbolises wisdom, creativity and resilience.
The intricate pattern is formed with interwoven lines in red, yellow, green and blue, reflecting the colours of the national flag. The Black Star remains prominent at the centre of the chest, positioned alongside the Puma logo and the Ghana Football Association crest. A contrasting black collar completes the design.
The away kit takes a different approach, featuring a striking “Sunny Yellow” base. According to Puma, the design captures the energy and dynamism of Accra’s Makola Market.
The jersey incorporates detailed tonal patterns, blending traditional Adinkra symbols with geometric elements inspired by Kente cloth. Dark green side panels and sleeves provide contrast to the bright yellow body, while a bold red collar ties the national colours together. Like the home shirt, the away kit also features the Black Star centrally positioned, maintaining a consistent visual identity across both designs.
Ghana’s Black Stars are expected to wear the new kits during the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
