Kwaku Manu clarifies relationship with Lil Win and Agya Koo: ‘We are colleagues, not friends’

Popular Ghanaian actor and media personality Kwaku Manu has set the record straight regarding his relationship with fellow Kumawood stars Lil Win and Agya Koo, revealing that while they share a professional bond, their personal relationship is far from what many fans may assume.

In an interview with Tony Best on Akoma 87.9 FM’s Entertainment 360 on Saturday, September 5, 2026, Kwaku Manu made a clear distinction between professional collaboration and personal friendship .

“Myself, Lil Win, and Agya Koo are colleagues, but we are not friends,” Kwaku Manu stated in the interview .

The actor further disclosed that he is looking forward to an upcoming meeting with Lil Win, during which he intends to confront him on “a few issues.” This revelation suggests underlying tensions between the two, despite their shared professional spaces .

Background of Strained Relations

Kwaku Manu’s comments come against a backdrop of long-standing industry speculation about discord among Kumawood’s leading actors. Over the years, rumors have circulated that Kwaku Manu and Lil Win primarily interacted only during movie shoots, with little to no personal rapport outside of work .

In a 2020 interview, Kwaku Manu alleged that some Kumawood producers and colleagues, led by Lil Win, had plotted to sideline him in the industry. He claimed that producers decided not to use him after he traveled to the United States in 2011, fearing he would become arrogant upon his return . He also recalled learning from Agya Koo’s experience of being sidelined, which made him cautious about relying solely on acting .

Additional reports from 2019 suggested that Lil Win had allegedly “masterminded” Kwaku Manu’s career decline, with accusations that Lil Win declined to star in movies involving both Kwaku Manu and Agya Koo .

Different Perspectives: Lil Win and Agya Koo Speak

Lil Win has consistently dismissed rumors of any feud with his colleagues. In December 2024, he addressed the speculation on Lawson FM, emphasizing that his relationships with Kwaku Manu and Agya Koo remain cordial .

“There is nothing between us but respect and friendship,” Lil Win asserted. He acknowledged Agya Koo as a “legend” and “godfather figure” in the industry while explaining that their limited public appearances together are simply due to busy schedules .

Similarly, Agya Koo has denied any animosity. In a 2022 interview, he stated that he holds no grudges against his “junior brothers” and revealed that Kwaku Manu frequently visits him at home. “How can someone who doesn’t have a good relationship with me come to my house to visit me?” Agya Koo questioned, dismissing rumors of discord as “falsehood” spread without evidence .

A Divided Industry?

The conflicting statements from the three actors highlight the complexities of relationships within Ghana’s competitive movie industry. While Kwaku Manu maintains that the relationship is strictly professional, both Lil Win and Agya Koo have publicly insisted that their bonds remain one of mutual respect and friendship .

Kwaku Manu’s willingness to publicly distinguish between professional and personal ties—and his stated intent to confront Lil Win—suggests that despite public denials from other parties, unresolved issues may linger beneath the surface.
