Zonda Tec extends auto sale discounts to Saturday amidst overwhelming patronage

Zonda Tec Ghana Limited has extended its discounted vehicle offers to Saturday, August 15, following an unexpectedly strong turnout at its two-day Auto Sale and Expo held at the company’s Dzorwulu showroom in Accra.

The extension grants a final opportunity to customers who were unable to attend the expo—or who found the showroom too congested—to access the promotional pricing before it expires. The company has confirmed that the discounted rates will not be maintained beyond Saturday.

Expo Draws Diverse Crowd, Exceeds Expectations

The two-day event, organised in partnership with Channel One TV, brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including vehicle buyers, government officials, industry players, academics, and celebrities. From the opening day, the Zonda Tec showroom buzzed with activity as patrons inspected new vehicle models, engaged sales representatives, and raised questions about affordability, quality, warranty coverage, and financing options.

Yang Yang, Chief Executive Officer of Zonda Tec Ghana Limited, expressed surprise at the scale of the response.

“I really want to use this opportunity to thank Channel One TV. It’s really beyond my expectations,” she said.

She noted that the strong turnout continued into the second day, with the showroom area becoming so congested that some prospective buyers were unable to gain entry. The overflow prompted numerous calls and messages from interested customers who missed the physical event, leading the company to extend the promotion by one additional day.

“Even from the first day, we can see the customers flooding to our Dzorwulu branch. And then the second day, we continue the same trend,” Yang Yang explained.

Sales Activity Confirms Consumer Interest

The high foot traffic translated directly into commercial activity. Yang Yang cited the performance of a single sales representative who attracted more than ten customers, five of whom made payments—a ratio she described as remarkable.

“I said, exactly how many have made the payment? He said, five. I said, that translates into sales? Only for one marketing man, alone,” she recounted.

While the company did not disclose total sales figures, the anecdotal evidence suggests that the promotional pricing successfully converted interest into commitments.

Affordability and Quality Drive Decision-Making

For many patrons, the expo served as a rare opportunity to test whether new-vehicle ownership could become financially viable in Ghana’s current economic climate. Visitors praised the diversity of models on display, while affordability, comprehensive warranty packages, and perceived build quality emerged as the top factors influencing purchase decisions.

Several attendees noted that seeing the vehicles in person helped challenge long-held scepticism about Chinese automotive brands, with many expressing surprise at the fit-and-finish and technological features offered.

The event also catalysed broader conversations about Ghana’s automotive sector—touching on local assembly capabilities, job creation, after-sales support networks, and the urgent need to reduce the country’s heavy reliance on used-vehicle imports.

Government officials, industry professionals, academics, and celebrities who visited the exhibition welcomed the initiative, describing it as a positive step toward making newer vehicles more accessible to Ghanaian consumers.

A Strengthened Partnership with Channel One TV

Yang Yang credited the event’s success in large part to the collaboration with Channel One TV, whose coverage and promotional support she said played a decisive role in driving visibility and attendance.

“In the future, any programme about Zonda, I want to involve Channel One TV because I see Channel One TV really has a heart for Zonda and they do things professionally,” she said.

The partnership appears set to continue, with both parties expressing interest in future joint initiatives.

Background: Zonda Tec’s Position in Ghana’s Auto Market

Zonda Tec is a subsidiary of China’s Zonda Group, a multinational corporation with interests in automotive manufacturing, renewable energy, and infrastructure development. The company entered the Ghanaian market several years ago, positioning itself as a provider of affordable, reliable new vehicles—a segment traditionally dominated by imported used cars from Europe, Japan, and the United States.

Ghana’s automotive industry has undergone significant transformation in recent years, with government policies such as the Automotive Development Programme encouraging local assembly and reducing import duties on completely knocked-down (CKD) kits. Major global brands—including Toyota, Nissan, Volkswagen, and Kia—have established assembly plants in the country, while Chinese manufacturers like Zonda, Chery, and BYD have increasingly gained market share.

Despite these developments, new-vehicle penetration remains low in Ghana due to high costs, limited financing options, and consumer preference for used imports. Promotional events like the Zonda Tec Auto Sale and Expo aim to bridge that gap by offering price incentives and hands-on experience to build consumer confidence.

Final Day: What Customers Should Know

The extended promotional period runs until the close of business on Saturday, August 15. Customers interested in taking advantage of the discounted prices are advised to visit the Zonda Tec showroom in Dzorwulu early, as the company warns that the offer will expire definitively at the end of the day.

With the expo now concluded, the commercial opportunity remains open for one final day—a last chance for buyers to secure a new vehicle at promotional rates and, perhaps, to be part of a growing shift toward modern automotive ownership in Ghana.
