ECG announces power outages in four regions for Wednesday maintenance

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced scheduled maintenance exercises in four regions on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, even as engineers continue to repair faulty infrastructure that left several communities without power on Tuesday.

The planned maintenance, aimed at improving service reliability and addressing urgent network issues, will affect parts of the Accra West, Western, Central, and Volta regions at varying times.

Accra West Region

A planned eight-hour maintenance from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm will affect Amasaman, Plywood, Bubuashie E.P. Church, and surrounding areas.

Western Region

From 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, power will be interrupted in Achantaman, parts of West Tanokrom, and neighbouring communities.

Central Region

A three-hour maintenance from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm will affect Tuba township, Mama Africa, Lamgba, and surrounding areas.

An emergency maintenance operation will also run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, affecting a wide range of communities including Abotareye, Hiawa, Nkakaa, Manso Amenfi, Akyekyere, Bonuama, Suroso, Asankragwa, Mota, Kwesi Bokoro, Aboi Nkwata, Dunkwa, Enhie, M-T-N, Samreboi, Moseaso, Asakra Breman, Odumasi, and surrounding areas.

Unplanned Faults on Tuesday

The scheduled interventions follow multiple network faults on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. In the Accra East Region, a faulty underground high-tension cable at Agbogba cut power to Ashongman Estate, Ashongman Atakora Estate, and Ashongman Aggies Spot. In the Volta Region, a burnt high-tension pole on the Agortoe T-off affected Hadota, Adzato, Vorvonukope, Sokutime, Aflato, Sodzi, Kpordui, and surrounding areas.

ECG Apologises to Customers

In public notices, ECG apologised to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the unplanned faults. The company assured the public that engineers are working diligently to resolve all network issues, adding that the planned exercises are necessary for the long-term robustness of the power network.
