Black Queens rise latest FIFA Rankings

Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, have climbed three places to 59th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

The upward movement also places Ghana third on the African continent, behind Nigeria, which remains the highest-ranked African side in 36th position, and South Africa, who dropped three places to 58th.

Elsewhere on the continent, Zambia is ranked 64th, followed by Cameroon (70th), Côte d’Ivoire (72nd), Algeria (73rd), Senegal (80th) and Mali (85th), completing Africa’s top 10.

Little change at the top

At the global level, there were no major changes at the summit, with Spain maintaining their position as the top-ranked team in the world. The United States, England, Germany, Japan and Brazil complete the top six.

France occupy seventh place, while Sweden, despite slipping three places, remain within the top 10 in eighth position. Canada have moved up one place to ninth, with the Netherlands also gaining a place to 10th after overtaking South Korea.

Steady progress

Ghana’s rise in the rankings reflects steady progress by the Black Queens as they continue efforts to re-establish themselves among the continent’s leading sides.
