With just four days to go before the scheduled “Best of Bukom 3” boxing event, Bishop Boxing Promotions has accused La Boma Beach Resort of pulling the plug on their partnership and is now threatening legal action to recover thousands of cedis in losses.
According to a notice issued by the promoter’s solicitors, Akpalu, Yartey & Associates, the two parties had signed a Memorandum of Understanding on March 24, 2026, outlining clear responsibilities for the hosting of the event slated for Saturday, May 9, 2026.
Under the agreement, Bishop Boxing Promotions was to handle event promotion, boxing production, securing fighters, Athletic Commission approvals, broadcast coordination with IMAX TV, ticketing strategy, and overall event logistics.
La Boma Beach Resort, described in the notice as the “Hospitality Partner,” was to host the event at agreed locations within the resort, provide venue services including power, staffing, hospitality, and security coordination, assist with local regulatory and permitting needs, and collaborate on on-site marketing and guest services.
The law firm states that their client has already parted with substantial sums of money to fulfil his end of the bargain. However, at a meeting called by the resort on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Hospitality Partner allegedly made clear its intention to opt out of the agreed terms.
“The Hospitality Partner… unilaterally abrogated the agreement,” the notice reads.
All attempts by the promoter to get the resort to honour its obligations have proven futile, the lawyers added.
The solicitors have now issued a twenty-four (24) hour ultimatum to the resort’s Business Development Manager, Mr. Neelante Bruce, demanding a meeting for amicable settlement. Failure to comply, the letter warns, will compel Bishop Boxing Promotions to enforce its legal and equitable rights to recover all expenses incurred, interest at the Commercial Bank Lending Rate from May 3, 2026, until final payment, as well as additional damages for breach of contract and injury to the promoter’s business brand.
La Boma Beach Resort had not issued an official response at the time of this publication.
