President John Dramani Mahama has reassured the government’s commitment to the accelerated development of the Savannah Region, speaking over the weekend at the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Gonjaland Youth Association in Buipe.
Addressing a large gathering of youth and chiefs, the President outlined a series of flagship interventions aimed at transforming the region’s educational landscape. He announced plans to establish specialized STEM schools in Tinga and Busunu, expand infrastructure across Senior High Schools, and upgrade selected Category B schools to Category A status.
“Education is the bridge between where we are and where we aspire to be,” President Mahama said, underscoring the administration’s focus on skills development and academic excellence as tools for national transformation.
Beyond education, the President revealed plans to construct a modern sports stadium for the Savannah Region. He also committed to building 24-hour markets in every district, a move designed to stimulate job creation, support local businesses, and expand economic opportunities—particularly for the region’s youth.
The anniversary celebration served as a platform for the Gonjaland Youth Association to engage with the President on developmental priorities, with Mr. Mahama reaffirming that his government will not relent in bridging infrastructure and opportunity gaps in the area.
