The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has announced that the government has signed a $2 billion agreement with the Jubilee Partners aimed at reducing gas prices and increasing domestic gas consumption.
He disclosed this during a visit by Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang to the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition on Monday, January 27, 2026.
According to Mr Jinapor, the agreement has received Cabinet approval and will soon be presented to Parliament for consideration. He explained that the deal will lower gas prices from $3.1 to $2.5, while also boosting gas utilisation and crude oil production.
“We have also signed a $2 billion agreement, which Cabinet has approved and which will be taken to Parliament. It will reduce our gas price from $3.1 to $2.5, increase gas consumption and raise crude oil production,” the Minister said.
Mr Jinapor further revealed that the ministry has entered into another major agreement worth $1.5 billion with the Sankofa Partners to further strengthen the energy sector.
He noted that the second deal is expected to increase gas supply, reduce prices and enhance production levels.
The agreements form part of the government’s broader strategy to stabilise energy supply, lower production costs and improve oil and gas output in Ghana.
