Ghanaian Football Administrator Defends Legacy Rise Sport CEO Amid Criticism

Samuel Anim Addo, a prominent Ghanaian football administrator and boxing promoter, has defended Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Sport, amidst growing criticism over the source of his income. Anim Addo emphasized that Mahama’s investments in boxing have significantly elevated the sport’s standard in Ghana, particularly through successful events like “Battle of the Beasts” and “The Showdown”.

As a boxing promoter and manager, Anim Addo also manages John Laryea, the current IBF African Featherweight Champion. Laryea, known as “The Expensive Boxer”, won the title after defeating Holy Dorgbetor on December 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, an event promoted by Legacy Rise Sport.

Under Mahama’s leadership, Legacy Rise Sports has been instrumental in promoting boxing in Ghana, hosting high-profile events featuring local and international fighters. Mahama aims to create a sustainable sports infrastructure, providing opportunities for young Ghanaian boxers to showcase their talent globally. He has collaborated with international promoters like Amir Khan’s AK Promotions and brought boxing legends like Anthony Joshua to Ghana.

Anim Addo’s defense highlights the positive impact of Mahama’s efforts on Ghanaian boxing. “Sharaf Mahama has made genuine investments that have elevated the standard of boxing in Ghana,” Anim Addo said.
