Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has declared that his political backing for the 2028 presidential election will be determined solely by former President John Dramani Mahama.
In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb’s Elsie Lamar, the outspoken lawmaker made it clear that his allegiance lies firmly with Mahama, and he will support any candidate the former president chooses to succeed him.
“If I ever have to support anybody to become the next president of Ghana after John Mahama, it has to be that I support this person because John Mahama told me that we should support this person,” A Plus stated.
He stressed that no one else would influence his decision. “Whoever I support for president of Ghana is because President Mahama has told me that all of us should support this person. The only person that I will support is who he says we should support.”
According to the Gomoa Central MP, Mahama’s deep understanding of Ghana’s political landscape makes him the right person to anoint a successor.
“I’m saying if I ever support somebody, it should be somebody Mahama says we should support because he knows his people. He knows who is going to continue the good work that he’s doing,”
