Veep Prof. Opoku-Agyemang unveils ultra-modern ICT hub to transform digital learning in Upper West

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has inaugurated a state-of-the-art ICT centre at the Sankana Cluster of Schools in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region, marking a major step toward advancing digital literacy and hands-on ICT education for students.

The newly commissioned facility is expected to bridge the digital divide in the area by providing learners with access to modern computing infrastructure and revolutionising practical instruction in information and communication technology.

Speaking to Citi News, Nadowli-Kaleo District Chief Executive Mary Haruna described the project as a turning point for education in a district where ICT resources remain critically scarce.

“This commissioning is a very heartwarming one. ICT centres are not common in our district, and for this singular honour we are very grateful. Our girls and boys will now be able to access it, even those beyond this community,” she said.

The headmaster of Sankana D/A Junior High School, Abraham Behtu, said the centre was long overdue and will fundamentally transform how ICT is taught at the school.

“This is something we have been yearning and praying for. We have been teaching the students abstractly, drawing computers on the board. Today, they can touch them and have a feel of ICT,” he said.

The ultra-modern hub is designed to serve not only the Sankana Cluster of Schools but also neighbouring communities, promising wider digital empowerment across the district.
