A heroic rescue attempt turned into a double tragedy on [Date of incident if known, otherwise remove brackets] after two brothers drowned in an abandoned quarry lake at Live Donorkope in the Volta Region.
The deceased have been identified as Felix Dogbey, 18, and Christian Dogbey, 25.
According to reports, the incident unfolded when the brothers’ nine-year-old sibling got into difficulty while in the water. Felix was the first to jump in, managing to push the young boy to safety. However, shortly after rescuing his younger brother, Felix himself began drowning.
Witnessing his brother in distress, Christian entered the water in a desperate attempt to save Felix. Tragically, Christian also drowned in the process.
Rescue teams were deployed to the scene and later recovered the bodies of the two brothers following extensive search efforts.
The young sibling they saved is reported to be safe.
Local authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but the incident has sent shockwaves through the Live Donorkope community. Residents are being urged to stay away from abandoned quarry lakes, which often have unpredictable depths, steep sides, and hidden dangers.
