Shakira unveils official song for 2026 World Cup

Colombian singer Shakira has released the official song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The 49-year-old artist, known for global hits including “Whenever, Wherever” and “Hips Don’t Lie,” teased the track titled “Dai Dai” on Thursday. The anthem also features Nigerian Afrofusion star Burna Boy.

In a one-minute video posted to Instagram from Brazil’s iconic Maracanã Stadium, Shakira gave fans a preview of the song, which drops on May 14.

This marks Shakira’s second official World Cup anthem. She previously performed “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” for the 2010 tournament in South Africa, one of the most successful World Cup songs of all time.

She also delivered the second theme song for the 2014 tournament in Brazil with “La La La (Brazil 2014),” which she performed at the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro. Her connection to football’s biggest stage extends back to 2006, when she sang “Hips Don’t Lie” at the closing ceremony in Germany.

Shakira, who has two sons from her former relationship with ex-Spain and Barcelona defender Gerard Piqué, will see her home country Colombia compete in this summer’s expanded 48-team tournament, which runs from June 11 to July 14.
