Tensions within Real Madrid’s dressing room have reached a boiling point, with the club now planning a significant squad overhaul following a series of internal betrayals and insults, according to Onda Cero.
Sources have revealed that several first-team players repeatedly referred to former defender and current coaching staff member Álvaro Arbeloa as a “cone” while sitting on the bench during multiple matches. Upon discovering the derogatory label—often used to describe a static, easily bypassed defender in training drills—Arbeloa reportedly decided to stop selecting those responsible.
The incident has split the locker room into factions. Earlier this season, a group of players had already cut ties with coach Xabi Alonso. Now, a separate group has formally severed their relationship with Arbeloa.
The dual revolts have convinced Real Madrid’s hierarchy that a coaching change alone will not solve the deepening dysfunction. The club has determined that a “small revolution” is necessary, with certain players deemed unsalvageable and ordered to leave the squad.
Adding to the intrigue, the altercation was not exposed by traditional media leaks but by a player—a current member of the first team who deliberately brought the dispute to light.
The club has declined to comment on specific names or the timeline for expected departures.
