The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a firm directive to all regional executives to immediately complete all outstanding Branch Executive Elections across the country, following a resolution by the party’s Functional Executive Committee (FEC). The move is aimed at finalising the party’s grassroots electoral processes and strengthening its organisational structures ahead of subsequent stages of its internal electoral calendar.
In a communication signed by the Deputy General Secretary (Finance and Administration), Barbara Serwaa Asamoah, on behalf of the General Secretary, the National Secretariat instructed Regional Chairmen and Secretaries to supervise the conduct of the remaining branch elections between Monday, August 3, and Tuesday, August 11, 2026. The nine-day exercise is intended to bring closure to all pending branch-level electoral activities nationwide.
The directive stems from an FEC meeting held on July 28, 2026, during which the committee reviewed the status of the party’s internal electoral process. After deliberations, the FEC resolved that all outstanding branch elections should be organised through the party’s regional structures within a specified timeframe.
“The Functional Executive Committee (FEC), at its meeting held on 28th July 2026, agreed that the outstanding Branch Executive Elections should be conducted through the Party’s various regions,” the statement read. “Accordingly, you are hereby directed to ensure that all outstanding Branch Executive Elections within the region are conducted from Monday, 3rd August 2026 to Tuesday, 11th August 2026.”
To facilitate a smooth exercise, the National Secretariat disclosed that the list of outstanding branch elections has already been forwarded to the respective Regional Election Committees. Regional executives have been instructed to liaise closely with these committees to ensure effective coordination and strict adherence to the party’s Election Guidelines and approved timetable.
The directive emphasises that collaboration between regional leadership and election committees is essential to delivering transparent, orderly, and credible elections. It further mandates that every aspect of the exercise complies with the NDC Constitution and all directives issued by the national leadership, underscoring the party’s determination to preserve the integrity and credibility of its internal democratic processes.
Branch Executive Elections are a cornerstone of the NDC’s organisational structure, as branch executives are responsible for coordinating political activities at the community level, mobilising members, implementing party programmes, recruiting new supporters, and serving as the primary link between the national leadership and grassroots members. The completion of all outstanding elections is therefore expected to fortify local structures by ensuring that every branch is led by duly elected executives operating under constitutional mandates.
Regional leaders have been tasked with providing adequate supervision, logistical support, and administrative oversight throughout the exercise. The National Secretariat expressed confidence in the ability of regional officials to oversee the elections professionally and within the approved schedule, while appealing for continued commitment to the party’s organisational objectives.
“This directive must be adhered to strictly to ensure the successful completion of the exercise within the stipulated period,” the communication stated. “Your usual cooperation and commitment to the successful execution of this important Party assignment are highly appreciated.”
The directive marks a critical step in the NDC’s broader internal electoral calendar, as the party seeks to reinforce its grassroots base and prepare for subsequent higher-level elections. With the August 11 deadline set, all eyes are now on regional executives to deliver a credible and timely conclusion to the branch-level polls.
