Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested one person following the discovery of an Indian national’s body in the boot of his car on the outskirts of Kumasi.
The victim, identified as Devendra Singh, had been reported missing prior to the gruesome discovery, prompting a police search.
According to police sources, officers received information around 2:00 p.m. on April 25, 2026, that Singh’s vehicle had been located near the Royal Lemosey Hospital at Sabin Akrofuom. A team was dispatched to the scene and found the car parked by the roadside.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of Singh’s body in the boot with multiple stab wounds.
The Ashanti Regional Crime Scene Management Team processed the scene, after which the body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and an autopsy. The vehicle has been impounded to assist with investigations.
The suspect is currently in custody and is cooperating with police.
IGP Deploys Special Team
Following the incident, the Inspector General of Police has deployed a team of intelligence officers and homicide investigators to support the Ashanti Regional Police Command in tracking down all persons linked to the crime.
“The Police assure the public that every effort is being made to bring the perpetrators to justice and urge anyone with relevant information to assist the investigation,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Public Affairs Unit of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, in a statement dated April 26, 2026.
Investigations are ongoing.
