Ghana to host maiden Invest Ghana Summit in November, expects over 2,000 global investors

More than 2,000 local and international investors, diplomats, policymakers and business leaders are expected to attend the maiden edition of the Invest Ghana Summit, scheduled for November 16–17, 2026, at the Kempinski Hotel, Gold Coast City, Accra.

Convened by the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) under the distinguished patronage of President John Dramani Mahama, the two-day summit is themed “Investing in Ghana’s New Economy: Building a Productive Economy that Creates Value and Competes Globally”. It will serve as a premier platform to showcase Ghana’s investment opportunities, economic reforms, and opportunities linked to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda.

A Defining Moment for Ghana’s Investment Story

The summit comes at a pivotal moment in Ghana’s investment landscape. On July 15, 2026, President Mahama assented to the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Act, 2026 (Act 1173), officially transforming the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) into the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA) — the most comprehensive reform of Ghana’s investment regime in over a decade.

The new legislation elevates GIPA to a body corporate with expanded powers, including a statutory mandate to promote outward investment by Ghanaian enterprises, a formal Investor Grievance Mechanism, and a One-Stop-Shop for investment facilitation. Critically, GIPA now serves as Ghana’s national focal institution for implementing the AfCFTA Protocol on Investment, deepening the country’s role as a gateway to Africa’s 1.4 billion-person market.

“The Authority we are building today is designed to respond to investors with the speed, transparency, and consistency that global capital demands, while ensuring that the benefits of investment are shared broadly across Ghanaian communities,” said GIPA Chief Executive Officer Simon Madjie.

Showcasing Ghana’s Investment Potential

The summit is designed to connect investors with viable projects and investment opportunities from across Ghana’s regions. It will provide a platform for Ghanaian businesses and project promoters to engage directly with investors, financiers and technical partners, while facilitating access to policymakers, regulators and investment facilitation institutions. Structured follow-up engagements will help convert investment discussions into tangible partnerships and projects.

A key focus will be investment opportunities identified through GIPA’s Investment Opportunities Mapping Project (IOMP), alongside initiatives linked to the government’s 24-Hour Economy agenda and opportunities that leverage regional market access under the AfCFTA.

The 24-Hour Economy policy, a flagship initiative of the Mahama administration, was signed into law in February 2026 following the passage of the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill by Parliament. The policy aims to enable businesses to operate around the clock through a system of incentives and support mechanisms, and is expected to unlock nearly 1.7 million jobs by incentivising businesses to run three shifts. A pilot programme has already been launched in the petroleum downstream sector across four regions — Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western and Northern — covering 268 fuel stations.

Ghana’s Investment Pipeline

The summit comes as Ghana seeks to convert its growing investment pipeline into operational businesses. At the launch of GIPC’s 2025 Annual Investment Report in August 2026, the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, disclosed that Ghana had nearly US$12 billion in announced and pipeline investments, stressing the need for those investments to materialise into productive enterprises.

Mr. Madjie said the summit would focus on productive investment that builds industries, adds value to local resources, strengthens Ghanaian enterprises, expands exports and creates sustainable jobs. “This narrative must reflect not only the opportunities Ghana offers investors, but also our longstanding aspiration to build a prosperous and self-reliant economy that contributes meaningfully to Africa’s economic transformation,” he stated.

22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards to Follow

The Invest Ghana Summit will be followed by the 22nd Ghana Club 100 Awards on November 18, 2026, GIPA’s flagship corporate awards programme at The Palms Convention Centre, Accra, where Ghana’s top-performing companies will be honoured for excellence, innovation, growth and contributions to national economic development.

Companies across various sectors have already submitted an overwhelming number of entries ahead of the October 23 deadline, reaffirming the awards’ position as Ghana’s premier corporate ranking and recognition platform since its launch in 1998. “The strong participation so far is a testament to the credibility of the Ghana Club 100 and the determination of businesses operating in Ghana to pursue excellence, innovation and sustainable growth,” Mr. Madjie said.

A Call to Action

Both events are being held in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry (MOTAI), and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), among other institutions.

Mr. Madjie called on businesses, the investment community, diplomatic and development partners, and government to participate fully in the events. “Ghana’s opportunities must be effectively presented, and the Summit must deliver meaningful outcomes,” he said.

With over 2,000 participants expected, the Invest Ghana Summit is poised to become the country’s biggest investment and business gathering, positioning Ghana as Africa’s premier investment destination and a strategic gateway to the continent’s expanding single market under the AfCFTA.
