The Ghana Boxing Interim Management Committee (IMC) has officially opened nominations for its upcoming elective congress, setting the stage for a new leadership race.
According to a schedule released by the IMC, interested candidates can file their nominations from Thursday, 14 May, through Tuesday, 19 May. The committee will then conduct an official confirmation of candidates on 22–23 May, paving the way for elections during an Extraordinary Congress slated for 4 June at the Accra Sports Stadium.
A three-member electoral committee, to be chaired by IMC chief Samir Captan, will oversee the process. The full composition of the committee is expected to be announced shortly.
Insider sources indicate that two figures have already emerged as frontrunners for the presidential race: Ivan Bruce Cudjoe and Rabbon Dodoo.
The race for the vice president position is shaping up to be a competitive one, with Roger Barnor, Ellis Quaye, Dave Bishop, and Ernest Ofori all mentioned as potential aspirants. Additionally, Mubarak Yusif Nanor has declared his interest in seeking an executive member position.
Officials stress that all aspiring candidates must formally obtain and submit nomination forms before they will be considered legitimate contenders in the election.
