GFA launches talent drive in UK with successful parents’ engagement session

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) held a productive engagement session yesterday with parents and prospective national team players at the Ghana High Commission in the UK, marking the official start of a new talent identification programme.

The event, organized in partnership with Coach Hene Sports Club, the Ghana High Commission United Kingdom, and Prince Lamona Consult, served as the opening act of a drive aimed at scouting Ghanaian players. Category One academies are expected to follow suit on Thursday for further assessments.

Key speakers at the session included Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK, Sabah Zita Benson; former Ghana international Michael Essien; GFA President Kurt Okraku; and Dela Dzebu, mother of Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo.

The gathering drew a strong turnout, with over 200 participants in attendance—a clear sign of growing interest in the GFA’s push to identify and integrate talented young players at an earlier stage.

According to the GFA, this session is just the beginning. More engagements are planned in the future as Ghana looks to strengthen its national team setup by attracting promising talents well ahead of their senior debuts.
