Gomoa Central Member of Parliament, A Plus, has weighed in on the long-standing feud between dancehall heavyweights Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, arguing that the rivalry should not be resolved because it holds significant value for Ghana’s entertainment industry.
In a recent interview, the politician and musician stated that the tension between the two artists is more of a business strategy than personal animosity.
“Yes, I think Shatta Wale’s feud with Stonebwoy should continue. Both of them are my friends, and I see value in everything,” A Plus said.
He drew parallels with enduring sports rivalries, questioning why rivals like Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko should ever become friends. “That’s life,” he remarked.
According to A Plus, the competing fan bases of Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy are central to how both artistes generate income.
“They’re not real-life enemies. It’s the business that they’re doing. Shatta Wale has his fanbase, and Stonebwoy also has his, so that’s how they make money. Why do we want to end the feud?” he explained.
The MP further likened the situation to a long-running court case that sustains a family’s livelihood. He recounted the story of a lawyer whose son ended a 20-year-old case, only for the father to express dismay because the case had paid school fees and supported the household for two decades.
“He thought his father was going to say he had done well, but he reacted otherwise. The father told him that he used the case to pay his school fees and made his life comfortable, so he decided to end it. Then he said they would have to go for a review,” A Plus shared.
He urged the public not to overreact to such industry rivalries, describing them as part of show business.
“I think all this is show business, so they’re not enemies. When I see people trying to get involved in the fight, I always say it’s not that deep,” he stated.
