Bishop Boxing Promotions launches ‘Best of Bukom University’

Bishop Boxing Promotions has unveiled “Best of Bukom University,” a pioneering eight-week curriculum that fuses elite boxing coaching with practical life-skills training for Ghanaian athletes.
Announced on March 1, 2026, the blended programme (workshops, practical sessions and guest experts) aims to produce boxers who are not only technically sharp but also financially literate, confident communicators and principled leaders ready to thrive beyond their fighting careers.
“Best of Bukom University cultivates boxing talent through premier coaching while providing comprehensive instruction in financial management, public speaking, wellness and healthcare, and ethical leadership — shaping resilient, articulate, financially savvy, and principled competitors ready to thrive inside the ring and in society,” said Dave Bishop, Founder of Best of Bukom University. “A boxer who masters money, voice, and mind will never be knocked out by circumstance.”
Programme Highlights
Duration: 8 weeks
Certification: “Best of Bukom Beyond the Ring” certificate upon successful completion of practical assessments
Starter Fund: GHS 500 deposited into a named bank account for every graduating boxer to begin savings and investments
The curriculum runs from orientation to a capstone project and includes:
Week 1: Orientation & Mindset – goal-setting, growth mindset and time management
Week 2: Public Speaking & Personal Branding – storytelling, 60-second pitch and social media basics
Week 3: Advanced Public Speaking & Media Training – mock interviews and crisis messaging (guest: sports journalist)
Week 4: Financial Literacy I – budgeting, banking and managing fight purses
Week 5: Financial Literacy II – taxes, insurance, emergency funds and long-term planning (guest: financial advisor)
Week 6: Interviewing Skills & Professional Communication – CVs, networking and endorsement interviews
Week 7: Contracts, Negotiation & Career Transition – legal basics, agent vs self-representation and career roadmapping (guest: sports lawyer/agent)
Week 8: Capstone, Mentorship & Next Steps – final presentations, mentorship matching and integrated portfolio (pitch video, financial plan, CV, contract checklist and 3-year roadmap)
