The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has declared that his party will split the Ashanti Region’s electoral votes equally with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking to party supporters in the Atwima Mponua constituency at Nyinahin during his ‘Thank You’ tour of the region, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah stated that achieving this goal is a personal priority before he retires from active politics.
He argued that the days of labelling the Ashanti Region as an exclusive NPP stronghold are fading. According to the NDC chairman, voters are increasingly making decisions based on tangible development and improvements in living conditions rather than historical party affiliations.
“What is needed are effective strategies and efforts at the grassroots level,” Mr. Asiedu Nketiah said.
He outlined a roadmap for winning over the electorate, including the completion of inherited projects, the initiation of new developments in collaboration with traditional rulers, and the creation of economic opportunities for the masses. He stressed that fulfilling campaign promises and improving livelihoods are now the key drivers of voter confidence.
The National Chairman urged all government appointees to work hard to justify the trust placed in them. He also called on party members to unite, cooperate, and support the government’s efforts to develop their communities.
Meanwhile, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Mponua, Ibrahim Issahak, highlighted ongoing development projects by the Assembly in infrastructure, education, health, agriculture, energy, water, and sanitation.
