The CEO of the National Petroleum Authority, Lawyer Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, has declared that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) possesses multiple candidates capable of decisively defeating Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 presidential election.
Speaking on Upside Down on Channel One TV on Sunday, April 26, Tameklo argued that the NDC’s electoral strength extends far beyond former President John Dramani Mahama.
He described the party as strategically positioned with a deep bench of credible and competent leaders ready to face Dr. Bawumia at the polls.
Tameklo specifically named several prominent figures as embodiments of competence and statesmanship, including former Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson, National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, and Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
“I am so happy, and I say this with so much pride, that today the NDC can produce all these great men who are fit to lead this republic,” Tameklo said. “Nothing excites me more than hearing the names you have mentioned.”
He maintained that the abundance of potential flagbearers reflects the party’s vitality and institutional strength rather than signalling internal discord. According to Tameklo, this depth only fortifies the NDC’s position ahead of the next electoral contest.
“All the individuals you’ve named, any one of them can beat Dr Bawumia,” he added.
