A-Plus clashes with MC Yaa Yeboah, Abena Moet over claims musicians promote fraud

Political activist and media personality Kwame A-Plus has strongly rejected suggestions by fellow media figures MC Yaa Yeboah and Abena Moet that some Ghanaian musicians actively promote fraudulent behaviour.

The confrontation unfolded during a televised panel discussion, where MC Yaa Yeboah reportedly argued that certain artistes contribute to the rise of fraud in society through their lyrics, public image, and overall brand. Her remarks immediately drew a sharp response from A-Plus.

Challenging both women on the basis of their assertions, A-Plus argued that it is both unfair and dangerous to generalise that musicians promote criminal activity without concrete evidence. He cautioned that such statements risk unfairly damaging the reputations of artistes and misrepresenting their role in society.

According to A-Plus, creative professionals should not be held responsible for broader societal problems without proper justification. He maintained that while music can influence behaviour, it often reflects existing social realities rather than creating them.

The exchange quickly became heated, with panelists divided. Some supported the view that entertainment content can shape public attitudes, while others sided with A-Plus, emphasising the need for evidence before levelling accusations against artistes.

The incident has since sparked widespread debate on social media, with Ghanaians sharing diverse opinions on the responsibility of musicians in addressing—or inadvertently encouraging—issues like fraud.

A section of the public has backed A-Plus’ stance, calling for fairness and factual backing when making such claims. Others, however, argue that public figures, including musicians, have a clear responsibility to be mindful of the messages they promote.

The discussion reflects ongoing national conversations about accountability within Ghana’s entertainment industry and the extent to which media personalities and artistes influence societal behaviour.

As reactions continue to pour in, the exchange between the three figures has brought renewed attention to the intersection of entertainment, ethics, and social responsibility in Ghana.
