A suspected armed robbery attack on a mobile money (MoMo) vendor at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in the Central Region has left one person dead and another injured.
The incident occurred around 8:00 pm on Saturday, when four armed men stormed the vending point. Witnesses report that the assailants opened fire on victims before escaping with an unspecified amount of cash.
A customer who sustained severe gunshot wounds was rushed to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The MoMo vendor is currently on admission at the Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic. A third victim, who also suffered gunshot injuries, has been referred to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba for further treatment.
The attack has triggered panic among traders and residents, who have called for heightened police patrols in the area.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are underway. No arrests have been reported at this time.
