Ghana to host World Cup jamborees as embassies partner with NSA ahead of 2026 tournament

Ghana is set to host a series of World Cup Jamborees following a new partnership between foreign embassies accredited to the country and the National Sports Authority (NSA), officials announced on May 1, 2026.

The initiative, aimed at building excitement and fostering international camaraderie ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will see participating embassies collaborate with the NSA to organize a mix of football fan festivals, cultural showcases, and youth clinics across multiple venues in Ghana.

“This partnership goes beyond football,” a spokesperson for the NSA said. “It is a celebration of global unity and a chance for Ghanaians to engage with different cultures while sharing our passion for the beautiful game.”

Under the agreement, embassies will help facilitate friendly matches between Ghanaian junior teams and squads representing their nations, alongside screening events and coaching workshops. The Jamborees are expected to kick off later this year and run through early 2026, building momentum toward the tournament in North America.

The NSA added that the collaboration would also boost local tourism and create opportunities for Ghanaian businesses in the sports and hospitality sectors. Further details on dates, venues, and participating countries are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
