‘He punished himself’ -Ex- agent says family ruined Mohammed Kudus ‘s career after Tottenham move

The woman who guided Mohammed Kudus from a raw talent in Denmark to the brink of Premier League stardom has broken her silence, accusing the Ghanaian midfielder’s family of forcing him to end their partnership and claiming his ill-fated move to Tottenham Hotspur has left him “punishing himself” in a relegation fight.

Jennifer Mendelewitsch, who founded Supernova Management and represented Kudus from around 2020 until July 2024, gave a candid interview in which she laid bare the collapse of their relationship. She alleged that family pressure, not footballing logic, led Kudus to turn down a contract extension with her agency—and that his subsequent decision to join Tottenham has backfired spectacularly.

“We were coming to the end of our term, and as we always do, we asked ourselves: what do we do? Do we continue on our path together or not?” Mendelewitsch explained. “I understood perfectly that his family was exerting pressure on him to say ‘no,’ and he submitted to it.”

The French agent did not hide her disappointment. “Honestly, it’s a shame. He is the one being punished the most in this story. I handled all of his transfers until the very last one, until he chose his own path.”

Mendelewitsch oversaw Kudus’s moves from Nordsjælland to Ajax, and then from Ajax to West Ham United in 2023. She claimed that after their split, the player’s judgment was swayed by those around him—leading to a £55 million transfer to Tottenham ahead of the 2025/26 season. At the time of writing, Spurs are languishing near the bottom of the Premier League table.

“They—Tottenham Hotspur—are flirting with relegation to the Championship; it’s the first time that has happened to him,” she said. “Well, I’m sorry, but you punished yourself. It’s a shame, but that’s life. It’s pretty crazy.”

Mendelewitsch’s remarks come at a particularly difficult moment for Kudus, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a setback in his recovery from a quad injury. The Ghana international has managed just three goals and six assists in 26 appearances across all competitions for Spurs—a sharp decline from his 18-goal, 10-assist debut campaign at West Ham.

The agent drew a contrast between Kudus’s current trajectory and what might have been. “Right now, he is on a slope that is not going up, and yet we built it up gradually. Unfortunately, we realise that things aren’t going well around him.”

Following the split, Kudus was briefly managed by family members before joining ROOF, an agency representing players such as Kai Havertz, Konrad Laimer and Virgil van Dijk. He has yet to respond to Mendelewitsch’s claims, and his immediate focus remains on recovering from injury and helping Tottenham avoid an unprecedented drop into the Championship.
