The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has released a detailed schedule of planned power outages affecting several communities in the Teshie-Nungua enclave from Monday, April 27, to Thursday, April 30, 2026.
The interruptions are necessary to replace the existing 20/26 MVA transformer at the Teshie-Nungua Primary Substation with a higher capacity 30/39 MVA unit, the company said in a statement.
Affected Communities
Residents and businesses in Grada Estates, Century Road, Teshie Zongo, Tsui Bleoo, Abolebu, Okpoi Gonno, Agblezaa, Manet Court Estates, Crescent Estates, and parts of Nungua will experience the outages.
Other impacted areas include the Teshie Cluster of Schools, Teshie Police Station, Lekma Hospital, the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly enclave, Teshie Roman School, Manwuase, Maami Beach, the Teshie Cemetery area, and the vicinity of the International China Mall.
Rotational Schedule
The interruptions will follow a rotational pattern, with communities divided into groups labelled A through E. Each group will experience outages lasting between five and six hours, depending on the phase of work.
Day one – April 27: Outages from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., followed by additional phases from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and from 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
Day two – April 28: Interruptions scheduled from midnight to 6:00 a.m., 6:00 a.m. to midday, midday to 6:00 p.m., and 6:00 p.m. to midnight.
The rotations will continue through April 29 and April 30 as engineers complete the installation works.
Long-Term Benefits
ECG explained that the upgrade is aimed at boosting supply capacity, reducing system overloads and equipment failures, and improving voltage stability across the enclave.
While acknowledging the inconvenience, the company urged affected customers to take note of the schedules and make necessary arrangements ahead of time.
