Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi married long-term partner Perihan in private Turkish ceremony

Ghana Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has officially tied the knot with his long-term partner, Perihan Kirli, in an intimate ceremony held in the picturesque coastal town of Kuşadası, Turkey.

The private wedding took place on Thursday, April 23, 2026, in a scenic resort town along the Aegean Sea. True to the couple’s wishes, the event was deliberately low-key, with vows exchanged in a serene waterfront setting in the presence of only close family members and a small circle of trusted friends.

Lawrence Ati-Zigi, who currently commands the goal for Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen and the Ghana national team, looked elegant in a classic suit, while his bride, Perihan, now legally bearing the surname Zigi, stunned in a graceful wedding gown. Adding a distinctive touch to the occasion, the Mayor of Kuşadası, Ömer Günel, personally officiated the ceremony.

The wedding represents a significant personal milestone for the 29-year-old goalkeeper (born November 29, 1996), who has largely kept his private life away from the public eye. Although the ceremony was private, photos and video clips from the joyful celebration have since surfaced online, drawing a flood of congratulatory messages from fans, fellow footballers, and sports personalities across Ghana and beyond.

However, the news has also generated some unconventional reactions. Following the emergence of a wedding video, some netizens advised the footballer to “activate the bro code” in light of his European spouse, urging him to consider registering his assets in the name of his parents—a practice some celebrities have adopted in the wake of high-profile divorce cases.

A Pillar Between the Sticks

Ati-Zigi, who stands 1.88 meters tall, has built a formidable reputation since his professional journey began with Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, followed by a stint at French side Sochaux. He joined FC St. Gallen in January 2020 for a modest transfer fee and has since amassed well over 200 appearances for the club, earning recognition for his sharp reflexes, composure, and command of the box.

On the international stage, Ati-Zigi has been a key figure for the Black Stars, earning nearly 30 caps and representing Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar as well as multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

As Ati-Zigi embraces his new role as a husband, the newlyweds have requested privacy during this special time. He is expected to return to club duties with FC St. Gallen shortly as the season continues.
