ECG announces planned power outages in three regions for Thursday, April 23

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance exercises across the Tema, Central, and Accra West Regions on Thursday, April 23, 2026.

According to the power distributor, the exercise is aimed at enhancing service reliability and strengthening the stability of the national grid. Engineers are scheduled to carry out critical infrastructure upgrades, leading to temporary power disruptions in dozens of communities.

The outages will commence at 9:00 am in all affected areas, with the duration varying depending on the scope of work at each location.

Tema Region

Two separate maintenance operations have been scheduled in the Tema Region, both running from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

The first exercise will affect the Motorway Axle Bridge, Nutri Foods, DPS, Toyota Sales Office, Abattoir, KICC, Frosty Bite, Cocobod Warehouse, and surrounding areas.

The second operation will impact First Bank at Ashaiman, Lashibi, Community 19 Annex, Klagon, and surrounding areas.

Central Region

In the Central Region, a planned maintenance operation will run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Affected areas include Afrangua Town, Mpeseduadze, Obokor, Jedi, Anoky, Nananom, New Nkusukum, Mankessim, Bafikrom, MSTS, Estates, and surrounding communities.

Accra West Region

In the Accra West Region, the maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas are Ablekuma Tigo Pole, Ablekuma Curve, Canary, Adoagyiri Zongo, Anyaa Deeper Life, Gbawe Bulemin, Gonse, Joma, Agbozume, Darkuman Kokompe, and surrounding areas.

In its public notices, ECG apologised to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience to domestic and commercial activities. The company reassured the public that the exercises are necessary to ensure the long-term robustness of the power network and to ultimately deliver improved service to consumers across the regions.
