Grassroots members of Ghana’s National Democratic Congress (NDC) have notified key state and party institutions of plans to hold a nationwide demonstration demanding improved job opportunities and greater inclusion within the party.
Official correspondence has been sent to the Office of the President, the NDC Majority Caucus in Parliament, the NDC Party Leadership, the Ghana Police Service’s Accra Regional Command, and selected media houses, according to Isaac Anane M.K. Gracious, who serves as the grassroots convener.
Organisers say the move demonstrates their commitment to due process and the lawful exercise of democratic rights. In a statement to supporters, they described participants as “law-abiding party members and responsible citizens of Ghana.”
The planned protest is expected to draw branch executives, task force members, polling agents, and long-time party supporters who feel sidelined despite their contributions to the party’s electoral efforts.
At the heart of the demonstration are calls for internal party reforms, including greater grassroots inclusion, equitable access to opportunities for loyal members, and an end to what organisers describe as a “used and dump” culture.
“We are pushing for change and a more inclusive political environment within the party,” the coordinating team said.
Further details regarding the date, protest routes, and specific demands will be communicated later. Organisers expressed confidence the demonstration will proceed peacefully and serve as a platform for constructive engagement.
