The head pastor of House of Faith Ministries in Techiman Central, Rev. Joseph Frimpong, has raised alarm over what he calls a growing disconnect between Easter celebrations and the spiritual significance of the Christian holiday.
In an interview during the Easter festivities, Rev. Frimpong observed that many believers have become more focused on social activities and merrymaking rather than commemorating the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
“What I have noticed in Christendom is that, at times like this, many Christians do not fully understand the value of Easter,” he said. “The purpose of Easter is to commemorate and remember our Lord, Jesus Christ, who shed His blood many years ago for the forgiveness of our sins.”
The pastor acknowledged that Easter has become widely celebrated, but warned that its true essence is gradually being overshadowed—even within church circles.
“Today, we see many activities and celebrations surrounding it. Even within the church, some people are more focused on celebration rather than recognizing the true purpose of Christ’s sacrifice,” he said. “This has become a concern in Christendom.”
Despite the trend, Rev. Frimpong assured that church leaders are actively working to educate their members on the core values and purpose of Easter.
“Nevertheless, we continue to do our best to teach people the true values and purpose of Easter,” he said.
He urged Christians to take time to reflect deeply on the meaning of the season and to align their lives with the teachings and sacrifice of Christ.
