St. Hubert SHS honours Atwima Kwanwoman DCE as student athlete earns national call-up

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma, Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has been honoured by St. Hubert Seminary Senior High School in recognition of the exceptional performance of one of its students at the recent Senior High School Athletics Competition.

A delegation from the school, led by the Rector, Rev. Fr. Henry Mensah, and Headmaster, Eric Kyei, paid a courtesy call on the DCE to present a trophy celebrating their star athlete, Blessed Owusu.

Blessed Owusu, a 15-year-old first-year student from Atwima Yabi, emerged as the overall best athlete at the competition, securing gold medals in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 400 metres events. He further demonstrated his talent by placing second at the prestigious “Champion of Champions” event in Cape Coast.

His consistent performances have earned him a call-up to represent Ghana at the upcoming World U-20 Championships in the United States of America.

Receiving the trophy, Hon. Agyemang Asamoah congratulated Blessed Owusu on his achievements, describing his success as a reflection of the talent within the district. She advised him to remain disciplined and focused, emphasizing the importance of balancing academics with athletics.

The DCE presented the athlete with a cash reward of GH₵2,000 and assured him of the Assembly’s continued support as he prepares for his international assignment.

Headmaster Eric Kyei expressed appreciation for the Assembly’s ongoing support and appealed for assistance in acquiring a DRIP machine to improve the school’s athletics track, noting that enhanced facilities would aid in nurturing more talent.

The visit underscored the collaboration between the district authorities and educational institutions in promoting youth development and celebrating excellence.
