Trump threatens to destroy Iranian energy infrastructure and Kharg Island

United States President Donald J. Trump has issued a stark warning to Iran, threatening to destroy key energy infrastructure, including the country’s main oil export terminal at Kharg Island, if ongoing negotiations fail to yield a deal.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the U.S. is engaged in serious discussions with what he described as “a new, and more reasonable, regime” aimed at ending American military operations in Iran. While noting that “great progress has been made,” the president cautioned that failure to reach an agreement would result in severe military action.

“If for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched,’” Trump wrote.

The president framed the potential strikes as retribution for American casualties, attributing them to what he called the “old Regime’s 47 year ‘Reign of Terror.’”

“This will be in retribution for our many soldiers, and others, that Iran has butchered and killed,” the statement read.

The threat marks a significant escalation in rhetoric, targeting Kharg Island, which serves as the primary terminal for Iran’s oil exports, as well as the country’s power generation and water desalination capabilities.
