The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of planned maintenance exercises scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, 2026, which will result in temporary power interruptions for numerous communities in the Central and Accra East Regions.
The scheduled operations, aimed at upgrading critical infrastructure and enhancing service reliability, will vary in duration across the affected areas, with most outages beginning at 9:00 am.
Central Region Outages
In the Central Region, three separate maintenance exercises are planned:

Accra East Region Outage
In the Accra East Region, a single planned maintenance exercise will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The eight-hour interruption will affect Asiedu Nketia Junction, Gravel Pit, Blowchem Industry, parts of Nmai Dzorn, parts of School Junction, and surrounding areas.
Ongoing Repairs
These planned upgrades come as the ECG continues to address an unplanned fault on the Ntensere feeder in the Ashanti West Region. That fault disrupted power on Tuesday to areas including Abuakwa Maakro, Asenemaso, Manhyia, Koforidua, parts of Akropong, and surrounding communities. Engineers are reportedly working to rectify the issue and restore supply.
Furthermore, restoration efforts are ongoing following Sunday’s heavy rainstorm, which affected 57 feeders in Accra and Tema. The company has confirmed that the majority of those feeders have been restored.
In its public notice, the ECG apologised to all affected customers for the inconvenience caused by both the scheduled maintenance and the ongoing fault repairs. The company reassured the public that its engineers are working diligently to resolve all network issues and emphasised that the planned exercises are essential for ensuring the long-term stability and robustness of the power network.
