Apostolic Church-Ghana bans kissing of bride at wedding ceremonies

The Apostolic Church-Ghana has officially banned the practice of kissing the bride before the altar during wedding ceremonies, according to a directive approved by the church’s Council of Apostles and Prophets.

The decision, announced following the 6th General Council Meeting held on March 28, 2026, at the TAC Conference Centre in Accra, is part of broader efforts to maintain doctrinal standards and enforce greater reverence during solemn marriage rites.

Under the new directive, officiating ministers are required to ensure compliance during all wedding ceremonies conducted under the church’s authority.

Church leadership has not indicated any sanctions for violations, but the instruction is expected to be strictly observed by all officiating pastors.

The move has sparked discussion among congregants and observers, though church officials maintain that the focus remains on preserving the sanctity and spiritual dignity of the marriage covenant.
