The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a series of emergency and planned maintenance exercises scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026, that will affect several communities in the Greater Accra and Central regions.
According to advisories released over the weekend, the exercises are critical for addressing urgent network faults and performing infrastructure upgrades aimed at enhancing long-term service reliability. Engineers will be deployed across three operational regions, leading to temporary power interruptions.
The outages are scheduled to commence at 9:00 am in all affected areas, though the duration will vary depending on the specific scope of work in each location.
Accra West Region (Emergency Maintenance)
In the Accra West Region, an emergency maintenance operation will necessitate an eight-hour power outage from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Residents and businesses in the following areas are advised to prepare for the disruption:
· Akweteman
· Doblo
· Hebron
· Medie
· Sarpeiman
· Satellite
· Surrounding communities
ECG stated that these urgent works are necessary to rectify developing faults and prevent a further deterioration of service quality in that corridor.
Accra East Region (Emergency Maintenance)
Simultaneously, the Accra East Region will undergo its own emergency maintenance exercise during the same timeframe, also from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The outage will impact the following densely populated suburbs and their adjoining neighbourhoods:
· Dome Pillar 2
· Dome K Boat
· Dome Ohene Down
· No Visa
· Tseaddo Goil Fuel Station
· Tseaddo Royal Mart
Central Region (Planned Maintenance)
In the Central Region, a planned maintenance exercise is scheduled to run for seven hours, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Technicians will be undertaking routine upgrades to improve supply quality for residents in:
· Kuntu
· Pebi
· Hinii
· Surrounding areas
In its public notices, the ECG extended its apologies to all affected customers, acknowledging the inconvenience these technical interventions cause to both domestic and commercial activities. The company reassured the public that both the emergency repairs and planned upgrades are essential for ensuring the long-term robustness of the power network and delivering improved service to consumers across the regions.
