A specialized police task force deployed by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has apprehended two more suspects in connection with the violent armed robbery and murder at Fufulso Junction, bringing the total number of people in custody to five.
The suspects, identified as Dramani Imoro, 24, and Sayibu Iddi, 50, were taken into custody on Friday, March 13, 2026. Their arrest follows the initial apprehension of three other individuals—Habibata Kojo, 29; Ibrahim Sumaila, 35; and Alhassan Yusif, approximately 40—on March 12.
The police operation was a swift response to the deadly attack on March 8, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m. at Golden Linq Ventures, a mobile money vending shop at Fufulso Junction. The assailants, armed with AK-47 rifles, stormed the shop, resulting in the fatal shooting of the mobile money operator, Mahama Majeed, and another individual.
According to a police report, initial investigations revealed that a six-member gang, believed to be of Fulani extraction and including one female, carried out the assault, concealing their weapons under long coats.
Following the incident, the IGP deployed a combined team comprising his Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team and the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit from CID Headquarters in Accra. Their mission was to reinforce the efforts of the Buipe District Police Command.
The breakthrough in the case came during a search of suspect Dramani Imoro’s residence. Police recovered several items suspected to be proceeds from the crime, including an unregistered Toyota VOXY vehicle, which investigators allege was purchased just 72 hours after the robbery. Also seized were an unregistered Haojue motorbike and two smartphones.
All five suspects are currently in police custody assisting with further investigations. Authorities have confirmed that efforts are actively underway to track down the remaining members of the gang who are still at large.
The police administration has commended the officers involved for their swift and effective action. In a statement, the police are appealing to the public, particularly residents of the Savannah Region, to volunteer any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining accomplices connected to the “horrendous crime.”
