Healthcare center for women and children in Bono Region inaugurated

In a significant step toward strengthening healthcare delivery in the Bono East Region, the Ayimah Health Center has been officially inaugurated to provide specialized maternal and child health services to residents of the Kintampo South Municipality.

The modern health facility was commissioned by H. E. Lordina Dramani Mahama, Founder of the Lordina Foundation, in a ceremony held on March 15, 2026. The event was attended by government officials, traditional leaders, and health sector stakeholders, including the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi.

Established through the philanthropic efforts of the Lordina Foundation, the Ayimah Health Center is equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology and designed to offer comprehensive care, with a strong focus on maternal and child health. Services available at the facility include antenatal and postnatal care, child immunization, nutritional support, and health education programs.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mrs. Mahama officially handed over the facility to the community and reaffirmed the Foundation’s dedication to improving healthcare access for vulnerable populations, particularly women and children.

“This health center represents our commitment to ensuring that no mother or child is left behind when it comes to accessing quality healthcare. It is our hope that this facility will reduce maternal mortality, improve child survival rates, and bring specialized care closer to the people,” she said.

Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi praised the Lordina Foundation for the transformative initiative, noting that the center would significantly ease the healthcare burden on residents who previously had to travel long distances for medical services.

“This facility is not just a building; it is a lifesaving intervention. It will enhance healthcare delivery, serve as a referral point for surrounding communities, and contribute to the overall well-being of the people in this municipality,” the Regional Minister stated.

The Ayimah Health Center is expected to serve as a critical healthcare hub within the district, offering timely and efficient medical interventions while supporting broader efforts to strengthen Ghana’s primary healthcare system.

The inauguration marks a major milestone in the development of health infrastructure in the Kintampo South Municipality and underscores the impact of public-private partnerships in advancing community health.
