Two Nollywood crew members found dead on film set in Lekki

Tragedy strikes as police launch investigation into mysterious deaths of lighting director and video director

The Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, has launched a full investigation into the deaths of two Nollywood production crew members who were found lifeless inside a parked vehicle on a film location in Lekki Phase 1.

The deceased have been identified as Godstime Imeh, a lighting director and CEO of GeeTee Light, and Walter Odediran, a creative video director known professionally as Director Carrinqton.

Their bodies were discovered on the evening of Saturday, February 7, 2026, inside Imeh’s Nissan vehicle with tinted windows. The film production was reportedly being directed by former Big Brother Naija housemate, Boma.

According to sources, the two men had arrived early at the location to install lighting equipment. After completing their setup around mid-morning, they decided to rest inside the vehicle while waiting for further instructions.

A crew member delivered breakfast of yam and omelette to them at approximately 11 a.m. Both men were last seen reclining in the car with the air-conditioning running.

When calls to their phones went unanswered by noon, colleagues became concerned. Later that evening, after shooting had wrapped, crew members discovered them motionless in the vehicle.

Speaking to Vanguard, Kola Odediran, elder brother of Walter, recounted the family’s devastation.

“Walter and I were like twin brothers. He was 36 and the last-born of our family. He was very close to Godstime Imeh. They worked hand-in-hand on movie productions,” he said.

Detailing the final hours of his brother’s life, Odediran explained: “On Saturday, February 7, they had a medical scene to shoot at Evercare Hospital. Around 10 a.m., they decided to take a break inside GeeTee’s car. Food was delivered to them; that was the last time anyone saw them alive.”

He described the harrowing discovery: “Around 7 or 8 p.m., after shooting wrapped, they were found inside the car. My brother was seated upright with foam at his mouth, while GeeTee was slumped, with blood from his nose, eyes, and mouth. It appeared whatever happened occurred suddenly.”

Odediran expressed frustration with the initial police response, noting that the case was first reported at Maroko Police Station but was not treated urgently. The family had to escalate the matter to SCID, Yaba, where it was documented as an unnatural death requiring investigation and autopsy.

Police have confirmed that questioning is underway for several individuals, including the film producer, Boma, the food vendor, the staff member who delivered the meal, and hospital management. The food vendor remains in custody.

Investigators are examining multiple factors, including environmental elements, possible ingestion, or mechanical issues. Particular attention is being paid to heavy-duty industrial generators located above the parking space where the vehicle was situated.

Forensic procedures now underway include autopsy, toxicology tests, mechanical inspection of the vehicle, and review of CCTV footage. Authorities have stated that all possibilities remain open pending laboratory analyses.

“It has been very difficult for our family. My mother is devastated. He was the last-born. We were just two male children. This has been extremely painful for us,” Kola Odediran added.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Nollywood community, with colleagues and fans expressing grief and calling for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
