The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) community is in mourning following the tragic death of a second-year student, Ransford Amankwah Asomani.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, February 8, at an off-campus hostel in Ayeduase. According to a university statement issued on Monday, Mr. Asomani, a BSc Agribusiness Management student, fell from the second floor of the building.
He was rushed to the KNUST Hospital with the assistance of the university’s District Police Patrol Team. Despite prompt emergency response, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The university has confirmed that the student’s family has been notified. His body is currently at the hospital mortuary awaiting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
In its statement, the university management expressed profound sorrow and extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and the entire university community, describing the loss as grievous.
The KNUST Police, in collaboration with university security services, have opened a formal investigation into the circumstances leading to the fatal fall. The university has pledged to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
KNUST reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of all students and staff, emphasizing the priority of maintaining a secure environment for academic pursuits.
