Haruna Iddrisu disowns campaign posters, denies 2028 flag bearer ambition

The Office of the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has strongly disassociated itself from promotional materials circulating on social media, which project him as an aspiring flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2028 presidential election.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Press Secretary, Hashmin Mohammed, the office described the posters as “fake” and advised the public to disregard them.

“The Office wishes to state unequivocally that these posters did not originate from Haruna Iddrisu or his office,” the statement read. It urged the public to “treat them with the utmost contempt they deserve.”

According to the statement, the Tamale South MP remains “fully focused on his responsibilities as Minister of Education and Member of Parliament.”

He is currently in Lusaka, Zambia, as part of President John Dramani Mahama’s delegation, working to advance the government’s “Reset Ghana” agenda within the education sector.

This is not the first time Mr. Iddrisu’s name has surfaced in discussions about the NDC’s future leadership. Notably, last year, he publicly endorsed Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as a capable candidate to become Ghana’s first female president, describing her as a strong and qualified leader.
