Apostle E.K. Owusu, the Sunyani Diocesan Head of the Church of the Lord (Brotherhood), has urged Ghanaians to rise above ethnic, religious, and political divisions and unite to build a just and progressive society.
Speaking at the enthronement ceremony of Archbishop Eric Kwadwo Mante as the Bishop in charge of the Akyem Oda District last Sunday, Apostle Owusu stressed that national reconstruction would remain a mirage without a shared sense of purpose, hard work, and genuine reconciliation.
“Without unity of purpose, assiduity and reconciliation, the determination of the people towards the national reconstruction programme will be a mirage,” Apostle Owusu stated.
He further called on citizens to commit themselves to the service of God, whom he described as the source of true salvation and success in all endeavors. The Apostle also admonished Christians to devote themselves to worship with undivided hearts and urged religious leaders to lead by serving their congregations with humility, not authority.
Addressing the newly installed bishop directly, Apostle Owusu advised him to carry out his duties with submission, humility, and dedication to ensure a successful tenure.
The ceremony drew the support of the Member of Parliament for Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, who congratulated Bishop Mante and called on church members to offer their full support and guidance. Mr. Acquah also encouraged Christians, who form the majority of Ghana’s population, to use their influence to positively transform society.
In his inaugural address, Bishop Mante expressed gratitude for his elevation and pledged to live up to expectations. He echoed the call for unity among Ghanaians and stressed the importance of personal hygiene and environmental sanitation in preventing disease outbreaks. The bishop promised to organize periodic clean-up exercises within the Oda community.
The event was chaired by the Krontihene of the Akyem Kotoku Traditional Area, Obrempong Gyamfi Saforo Kyereh, who advised the new bishop to lead an exemplary life worthy of emulation, both to sustain the confidence of his congregation and to attract others to the Christian faith.
