The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced a planned power outage in the Airport area of Accra and surrounding communities for today, Sunday, August 2, 2026, to facilitate maintenance works aimed at improving service delivery .
According to ECG’s Accra East Region, the exercise will cause a temporary interruption in power supply from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. . The company said the planned outage forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply in the affected areas .
The company has also announced a second temporary outage in parts of Accra East on Monday, August 3, 2026 . According to ECG, that exercise is also intended to improve service delivery and will affect customers from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. . Areas expected to be affected include parts of East Legon, parts of Okponglo, Fafraha, Ashiyie and surrounding communities .
The scheduled maintenance is expected to affect many workers and businesses that depend heavily on electricity during normal working hours . The power distributor apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged affected customers to take the necessary precautions ahead of the scheduled outage .
