Antoine Semenyo poised for major wage increase in Manchester City transfer

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo is on the verge of a lucrative move to Manchester City that would more than double his weekly earnings and establish him as one of the highest-paid Ghanaian players in history.

Manchester City are expected to trigger the 26-year-old forward’s £65 million release clause at Bournemouth before the January 10 deadline, with the transfer likely to be completed ahead of the weekend. Semenyo is scheduled to undergo a medical after Bournemouth’s Premier League match against Tottenham.

Reports indicate that Semenyo has agreed to a five-year contract at the Etihad Stadium with a basic weekly salary of approximately £150,000, excluding bonuses. Former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson told Football Insider that, with performance-related incentives included, the Ghana winger’s total weekly package could reach £200,000.
“City’s wage structure supports those figures,” Borson said. “A player signed for £65 million would expect a package in the region of £200,000 per week, including standard incentives.”

The proposed deal would represent a substantial rise from Semenyo’s current wages at Bournemouth and reflect Manchester City’s position among the Premier League’s top-paying clubs. The club’s total wage bill stood at £408.4 million last season.
Despite reported interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Tottenham, Semenyo has reportedly expressed a clear preference for joining Pep Guardiola’s side. City remain the only club to have made formal contact with Bournemouth regarding the transfer.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola acknowledged the growing speculation ahead of the Tottenham fixture, describing Semenyo as “almost impossible to replace” while stressing that no agreement has yet been signed.
Semenyo has enjoyed an impressive campaign, registering nine goals and three assists in 20 appearances across all competitions this season. If completed, the transfer would make him Manchester City’s joint-fifth most expensive signing.
