The government has announced that Friday, January 9, 2026, will be observed as a public holiday nationwide.
The declaration follows the statutory celebration of Constitution Day on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
According to a statement issued on January 2, 2026, and signed by Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak (MP), Minister for the Interior, “His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, acting by Executive Instrument (E.I.) and in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2001 (Act 601), as amended, has designated Friday, January 9, as the day to be observed as a public holiday.”
The public is advised to take note of the declaration and observe the holiday accordingly across the country.
