The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has retrieved the body of an unidentified young man from a drainage channel feeding the Odaw River at Asylum Down.
The deceased, believed to be in his late 20s, was discovered opposite the Iran Clinic. The GNFS confirmed receiving a distress call at exactly 6:18 am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
A rescue team from the Circle Fire Station was dispatched within one minute of the alert and arrived at the scene by 6:25 am. The operation, led by ADO I Richard Helegbe, successfully recovered the body from the drain.
Police Investigation Underway
The body has since been handed over to the police for preservation and further investigation. Authorities have not yet identified the man.
At the time of publication, no official statement has been released regarding the circumstances surrounding his death, including how long the body had been in the drain or whether any signs of foul play were observed.
