President Donald J. Trump has ordered a five-day postponement of all planned military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, citing productive discussions between the United States and Iran aimed at de-escalating hostilities in the Middle East.
The directive was announced by the President on his Truth Social platform, where he characterized the recent bilateral conversations as constructive and in-depth.
“I AM PLEASED TO REPORT THAT THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND THE COUNTRY OF IRAN, HAVE HAD, OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS, VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS REGARDING A COMPLETE AND TOTAL RESOLUTION OF OUR HOSTILITIES IN THE MIDDLE EAST,” Trump posted.
He added that he had instructed the Department of War to delay any military action against Iranian energy infrastructure for a five-day period, contingent on the continued success of ongoing meetings and discussions.
“BASED ON THE TENOR AND TONE OF THESE IN DEPTH, DETAILED, AND CONSTRUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS, WHICH WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE WEEK, I HAVE INSTRUCTED THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR TO POSTPONE ANY AND ALL MILITARY STRIKES AGAINST IRANIAN POWER PLANTS AND ENERGY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A FIVE DAY PERIOD, SUBJECT TO THE SUCCESS OF THE ONGOING MEETINGS AND DISCUSSIONS,” the President stated.
The temporary halt signals a potential shift from military action to diplomatic engagement, though officials caution that further developments remain dependent on the trajectory of the talks scheduled for the coming days.
As of press time, there has been no official comment from Iranian leadership regarding the discussions or the President’s announcement.
