A three-year-old boy has died following a violent bee attack in the community of Wawase, a suburb of Agona Swedru, in the Central Region.
The incident, which occurred on Friday, March 20, 2026, left a total of ten residents affected, according to the Agona West directorate of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO). The young victim has been identified as Christopher Amponsah.
Tragically, the child succumbed to injuries from the swarm. Other victims sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment. Their condition is reported to be stable.
Swift intervention by personnel from NADMO and the Ghana National Fire Service was required to bring the situation under control and disperse the swarm.
This marks the second such fatal incident in the Central Region within a single week. Local authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any large swarms of bees to the appropriate agencies immediately.
